Riga Radio and TV Tower included in state protected cultural monuments list

The Riga Radio and TV Tower has been included in the list of state protected cultural monuments, according to the government's official gazette Latvijas Vestnesis, cites LETA.

The owner of the Riga Radio and TV Tower is the state-owned Latvia State Radio and Television Center, which has agreed that the tower should have the status of a state protected cultural monument.


The Riga Radio and TV Tower remains practically unchanged since it was built, only the interior design has changed a little. It is a rare type of building, which has retained its original function.

The Riga Radio and TV Tower stands out with unique engineering solutions and quality construction for its time. The tower is a significant landmark in the city's scenery, which was set as a priority when the tower was being designed. The tower has an overall impressive, expressive and also pleasingly elegant architectural image.


The engineering structure has taken an important esthetic and architectural position in the cityscape of Riga, it is not only a significant and interesting technical building, but also a popular tourist attraction and one of Riga's calling cards.
