17 beaches in Latvia awarded Blue Flag in 2015

The Blue Flag international jury has decided that this year the Blue Flag will be awarded to 17 beaches and two marinas in Latvia, as Ieva Gedzuna, a representative of Zemes Draugi environmentalist NGO reported LETA.

The Blue Flag will fly at Abragciems beach in Engure, Stropu Lake beach and Stropu Vilnis beach in Daugavpils, Martinsala beach in Kuldiga, Radzi beach in Jekabpils, Beberlini, Southwestern beach and the beach by the stadium in Liepaja, Lielezera beach in Limbazi, Vakarbulli beach in Riga, Centra beach in Saulkrasti, Ventspils City beach, Bulduri, Dzintari, Majori, Dubulti, and Jaunkemeri beaches in Jurmala.

 

Liepaja Yacht Center, Pavilosta Marina will also be awarded the Blue Flag.

 

Last year the Blue Flag flew at 16 beaches and three marinas in Latvia.

 

The Blue Flag is an international exclusive voluntary eco-label for beaches and marinas, which has become the most popular among tourists. To receive the flag, a number of criteria are to be met set for water quality, environment management, environment information and education, services and others.
