Another two hotels should be built in other territories of the city as two existing hotels planned to expand in the capital, Remigijos Simasius said at the opening of Convene, the Baltic Sea Region exhibition for meetings, events and incentives, in Vilnius on Wednesday.

In total, the hotel sector of Vilnius should add 1,200 rooms over the next four years.

Last summer, Hanner acquired the now-abandoned Soviet-era Zalgiris stadium complex and the surrounding land from Siauliu Bankas for 41 million euros. Lithuania’s property developer said at the time that it would build a new congress center as well as a hotel, worth 15 million euros, at the site, which is located close to the center of Vilnius and its Old Town. Hanner plans to launch construction on the hotel in the summer of 2016. According to BNS sources, the hotel should be operated by the Mercury chain of hotels.

A hotel operated by Hilton should be built near the territory of the former stadium. According to sources, it would be developed by the Viciunai group. Another hotel that would also be operated by Hilton should be built in the center of Vilnius by real estate developer Eika.

BNS sources have also said that a hotel that would be built by real estate developer E.L.L. should be operated by Accor group, which plans to open a budget hotel Ibis. Meanwhile, a hotel planned to be built by real estate developer Vastint Lithuania should be operated by Marriott’s Moxy Hotels.
