According to Tallinn's accommodation establishments, bookings made so far show that at the end of the year 2015, 20% more Russian tourists are expected to visit Tallinn and stay overnight than last year, reports LETA.

"But the price level of hotel rooms is the lowest in four years for this segment – we get more tourists but for a cheaper price. At the same time many of them ask for rooms with a higher price. Russian tourists are willing to pay for good quality," chairman of the Estonian Hotel and Restaurant Association, Maarika Liivamagi, told BNS.

According to Liivamagi the number of bookings made using online channels has substantially increased – by about 30%. In addition, many tourists come by car.

"The number of tourists that come not from Moscow or St. Petersburg but from other regions of Russia has also substantially increased," Liivamagi said.

In 2015, the number of Russian tourists using the services of Estonian accommodation establishments has decreased on year in all the months so far. In the first eight months of the year their number has declined by 38% to 41,803 tourists.

Verni Loodmaa, chairman of the board of the association, told BNS that the weak state of the ruble is the main reason why the number of Russian tourists is record low. "But there are countries where the number of Russian tourists has declined even more, like Finland," he added.

The total number of tourists staying at Estonia's accommodation establishments has increased by 8.5% to 832,537 tourists in the first eight months of the year.
