Director of the Latvian Tourism Development Agency (TAVA), Armands Slokenbergs has submitted his resignation to the Economy Ministry, as Economy Minister Dana Rezniece-Ozola (Greens/Farmers) said in an interview with the LNT show "900 sekundes" this morning, cites LETA.

The minister said that Slokenbergs decided to quit because he felt "exhausted" and no longer inspired by his job. Slokenbergs has been the director of TAVA for five years.

Rezniece-Ozola plans to meet with representatives of the tourism industry today to discuss further action and necessary reforms.

She said that several organizations are currently responsible for shaping the image of Latvia – TAVA, the Latvian Institute, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. At the same time, Reizniece-Ozola denied that the said institutions could be merged or liquidated.

The minister also hopes to find a new candidate for the director of TAVA soon, mentioning the advertising expert Eriks Stendzenieks as a suitable candidate.
