In 2015, the non-life insurance company BTA paid around EUR 35,000 to clients of the Lithuanian bankrupt travel organiser Go Planet Travel, reports LETA/ELTA.

The company has also prepared compensations to the remaining clients and is now waiting until several tens of injured persons update the required details, BTA said.

"We are doing our best to promptly respond to the accident that has occurred and to compensate for at least part of the property damage to the injured persons as quickly as possible. An ad hoc team of employees kept adjusting the details of injured persons by phone and ensured that the beneficiaries immediately receive the compensable amount. We are glad to be able to minimise the troubles suffered by clients of the bankrupt company at least in such a way. We hope that in future such occurrences will be lesser, and travellers will not be exposed to such inconvenience," says Karolina Karpova, the Claims Settlement Department director.

When Go Planet Travel went bankrupt in summer, and its clients got stuck in a foreign country, BTA promptly disbursed funds (LTL 123,927/EUR 35,900) to cover the costs of overnight accommodation and tickets for people.
