High Education Export: problems and perspectives

By Olga Pavuk, BIA's professor , 14.11.2007.Print version
The theme of the regular round table organised by the BC and the Baltic International Academy (BIA) was that of high education export facilities for the Baltic States’ neighbouring countries, e.g. Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, etc.

The chosen theme for the RT’s discussions is of particular importance for the new EU member states and the Baltics. The latter have had specific advantages for the future students, i.e. the main language of command in education id Russian. At the same time, being members of the European Union the Baltic States can provide students with the European-type education certificates.

Latvian numerous universities and high schools conducting education in Russian are particularly interested in acquiring additional students’ enrollment. The problems and realities of the process have been the main theme of the round table organized at the start of the new school year. Representatives from Russia, Western Europe and Latvian education experts took part in the discussions.
