Lithuania seeks to extend support for renovation for another year

BC, Vilnius, 14.11.2014.Print version
The Ministry of Environment in Lithuania took into account the prime minister's encouragement and prepared a proposal to extend for another year the programme which covers 40% of the renovation cost, informs LETA/ELTA.

At the moment 15% of the support is provided from the state programme assisting to acquire or modernise housing, while the additional 25% from the special climate change programme.

Under the current rules the support is granted only if the work contract is signed before 31 December 2014 and if the project is implemented by 1 October 2015.

The additional 25% of support could be provided for another year if the Government agrees to lift the deadline before which work contracts have to be signed.

Since 2013, when the modernisation programme of the blocks of flats was adopted, 2,809 investment plans on the renovation of buildings were prepared and harmonised. Construction work began on 752 blocks of flats. Residents of another 1,594 buildings approved modernisation projects and are waiting for the renovation to begin.
