The aim of the Construction Law is to create a modern legal framework for the construction industry that will facilitate quality and responsible construction projects and procedures, at the same time ensuring that new construction projects are safe for the public

The new law stipulates clear distribution of responsibilities and obligations among the parties involved in the construction process, precisely defines responsibilities of specific authorities, as well as an improves the surveillance process.

The new Construction Law also allows to dispute a construction project prior to its initiation, and efficient mechanisms and instruments necessary to liquidate violations of construction regulations and ensure that new buildings that are constructed in Latvia are safe.
