Six companies want to build Estonian super-ministry building

BC, Tallinn, 22.09.2014.Print version
Six bids were submitted by deadline to the procurement declared by Estonian state real estate company Riigi Kinnisvara AS (RKAS) for the construction work of the so-called super-ministry building, that will in the future house four Estonian ministries, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

Three of the bids were in the presumed price range.

The unique project prescribes moving four ministries – finance ministry, economy and communications ministry, social ministry and justice ministry – to one location in central Tallinn, where currently the finance ministry building is situated. The joint set of buildings is presumed to save nearly 7 million euros in ten years.

RKAS hopes to sign a contract with the builder in November; construction should be launched next year and should take two years.

Currently the four ministers use a total of nearly 20,000 square metres of office space that is not effective and uses a lot of energy. Also the existing buildings all need considerable investments in the next few years.
