The prime minister emphasised that the monument is dedicated not only to Frenkel as an industrialist, but the great humanist, philanthropist and erudite who took care of his workers' health and working conditions, treated their families free of charge, funded Siauliai Jewish community and cared for education and spiritual matters.

Frenkel's leather factory was perhaps the most powerful in early 20th century Europe and the owner was highly interested in workers' social well-being. Possibly for the first time in Lithuania the plant had its fire fighting team, the factory's territory was lit using electricity, there was a telephone connection and a medical station.

"We inherited the state from people like this. We are thankful for their patriotism and love of Lithuania. Let the memories about them and their work encourage us to foster, build and strengthen our country," Prime Minister Butkevicius said.
