Vilnius Court drops the lawsuit of 2 companies concerning Lukiskes prison relocation case

BC, Vilnius, 11.09.2014.Print version
Vilnius Regional Court has dropped the lawsuit brought forward by companies City Service and Realco Statyba over their allegedly unjustified removal from Lukiskes prison relocation tender organised by the Prison Department, informs LETA/ELTA.

Vilnius Regional Court noted in its findings that the Prison Department's decision to continue with the prison relocation tender instead of announcing a new one was lawful. The court ruled that City Service and Realco Statyba deliberately refused to comply with the requirements to clarify information included in qualification documents.

City Service said it had proposed to relocate the prison for LTL 45 million (EUR 13 million) less compared to what their competitors offered. However, according to the Prison Department, City Service failed to meet with qualification requirements and its funding model was unjustified.

Two companies, AB Hanner and UAB Pilies Projektai, are still participating in the public procurement procedure.

Seeking to relocate Lukiskes prison from Vilnius city centre to Pravieniskes, the Ministry of Justice chose private and public partnership model. The state will allocate up to LTL 103 million (EUR 30 million) for the project.
