About 100 explosive objects found in garage on Sadovnikova Street

About a hundred explosive objects were found in a garage on Firsa Sadovnikova Street in Riga yesterday, the majority of which were artillery shells, informs LETA reffering to National Armed Forces.

The man who had amassed these explosives has not been detained yet, the State Police spokesman Dairis Anucins told LETA. It is currently unknown what the purpose of the cache was.


The police arrived at the garage in connection with another criminal case to check a on a lead about an illegal arms cache. What they found though was a garage filled with artillery shells.


The National Armed Forces refused to comment on the condition of the shells, as well as the on scope of damage that such amount of explosives could cause.


People were evacuated from the nearby buildings and traffic was shut down. Only several hours later, the explosives were removed from the garage.
