Lithuania's PM: general real estate tax would be unreasonable decision

Print versionLithuania’s Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius says that the decision to introduce general real estate tax would be completely unreasonable decision, informs LETA/ELTA.

"If the general real estate tax was introduced right now I think it would trigger widespread public outrage. Firstly, for one main reason – the economy has not recovered yet, wages do not increase, pensions do not grow, and we would put tax burden on people's shoulders. As an economist, I can say that it would be totally unreasonable decision," said Butkevicius, Wednesday after the Government meeting.
As reported Butkevicius said that he will try to make sure that amendments to the tax law would be adopted by July 1.
