Riga municipal housing manager will conduct half planned building repairs in 2020

BC, Riga, 24.09.2020.Print version
Rigas Namu Parvaldnieks (RNP) municipal housing manager this year will conduct half of the planned repairs, said RNP board chairman Ronalds Neimanis in an interview with LETA.

Neimanis has been appointed to the position in early September. In order to understand the situation in the company, auditors' report was analyzed, pointing at significant problems in relation to procurements. The previous temporary board, seeing the unfair practices, had suspended these procurements, said Neimanis.

This caused delays in the planned repairs.

"I want to tell residents that the money earmarked for repairs will not disappear. The repairs will be conducted eventually and the money will be used accordingly," he said, adding that fair and transparent procurements will be organized.

He said that he does not want to comment on any particular problems in the residential buildings, but most of them were built in the previous century, they have not seen any serious repairs and are in a poor technical condition.

Rigas Namu Parvaldnieks belongs to the Riga City Council. The company was established at the end of 2010 by merging fifteen municipal housing management companies.
