Riga may allocate additional EUR 702,870 for renovation of VEF Culture Center

The Riga City Council city property department lawmakers on August 14th supported allocation of additional EUR 702,870 to renovation of the VEF Culture Center, reports LETA.

The total sum planned for the renovation works is EUR 12,1 million.

 

The city property committee chairman Olegs Burovs (Honor to Serve Riga) said that EUR 2 million of the some has come from the open tender announced by the Environment Protection and Regional Development Ministry on reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in protected architectural monuments of national importance. The Riga City Council plans to attract the remaining EUR 4.25 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

 

In relation to the latest renovation works, the Riga City Council has to allocate additional EUR 702,870 excluding VAT or EUR 850,473 including VAT.

 

VEF Culture Center is an architectural monument of national importance. Construction of the center continued from 1951 to 1960, and the center opened on March 1, 1960.
