Estonian retail group Coop is set to expand its new logistics and office building in Soodevahe village near Tallinn by 2,500 square meters for 1.3 mln euros, reports LETA/BNS.

CEO of Coop Estonia Jaanus Vihand said that the plans include expanding warehouse space. "We want to be able to have warehouses here even if our turnover has doubled. We have taken into consideration that the warehouse should be able to manage a turnover of one billion euros," Vihandi said.

Vihandi said that 160,000-180,000 purchases were made in Coop's stores every day and already last year turnover exceeded the 500 mln euro margin of cooperative trade. Coop said that it should reach the planned one billion euro margin by 2025.

The 43,000 square meter logistics center which was opened last October encompasses warehouses for general, chilled and frozen goods. The company said that the new center includes state-of-the-art technology, voice controlled collection systems, camera equipped forklifts, employee saunas, a gym, massage parlor and hairdresser's. A total of 25 million units of goods passes through the logistics center every month and the center services more than 350 Coop stores.

The expansion will be built by Astlanda Ehitus OU and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2018.
