LETA reporters have noticed a construction job just under way at Lacplesa Street 71 in Riga, and upon inquiry were told that the Latter Day Saints (commonly known as 'Mormons') are building a church.

The project has been contracted by an entity COP Latvia, which lists as its purpose "facilitating educational and humanitarian, etc., projects in all of Latvia, representing, supporting and protecting the Church of the Latter Day Saints, whose seat is located in Salt Lake City/U.S."

In turn, the Church stands for "stable family values and conservative morality."

After a rocky road for the Mormons in Liepaja, they finally opened their community center in summer of 2009.
