A section of the new wing at Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital in Riga will have to be taken down and redone, the Health Ministry's State Secretary Solvita Zvidrina said during an expert committee meeting today, cites LETA.

She said that Artis Dzirkalis, an independent construction expert, has submitted a resolution on solutions regarding the construction process of the hospital's new wing.

The resolution indicates that a section will have to be demolished and rebuilt, while the rest of the structure can remain intact.

Zvidrina said that the Health Ministry has yet to get the full conclusion by Dzirkalis.

As reported, the construction of the new wing at Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital has been halted due to various flaws in the structure.

A committee of experts began work on February 23 in order to assess all the possible solutions for the resumption of construction at the hospital.
