Company gives up disputing Estonian EXPO 2015 procurement
Enterprise Estonia Foundation (EEF) CEO Hanno Tomberg said that withdrawing the complaint means that EEF can soon sign the contract with AS Ekspodisain, which submitted the best bid.
A final decision has not been made, however, it will be made in the coming weeks. Tomberg said that EEF is considering direct negotiations with construction companies operating in Italy, at the EXPO site.
"We will do everything to ensure that Estonia could take part in the world exhibition and the Estonian pavilion opens on 1 May 2015," he said.
Disputing the results of the construction procurement in court and the initial legal protection implemented due to that meant that completion of the Estonian EXPO pavilion was under serious doubt and EEF and the Ministry of Economy and Communications started looking for alternative solutions. EXPO 2015 Estonian Steering Committee and Chairman of the Board of Enterprise Estonia Ahti Kuningas said last week that if by mid-January, no solution is found, Estonia needs to seriously consider giving up EXPO.
