Nordea: Lithuania is investing too much in environmental protection

BC, Vilnius, 01.12.2014.Print version
Zygimantas Mauricas, Chief Economist of the bank Nordea, who spoke at the Yearly Economic Forum of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists said that Lithuania should sort out its financing priorities from the European Union structural funds, informs LETYA/ELTA.

"Lithuania is investing too much in environmental protection which really is not our priority. I believe it is investing too much in infrastructure, which has already been sufficiently developed. However, it is investing too little in entrepreneurship and education," said Mauricas.

From the European Union structural investments that Lithuania was allocated for 2014-2020, it will use approximately EUR 1.18 billion for infrastructure, EUR 837 million for environmental protection, EUR 532 million for promotion of small and medium-sized business, EUR 663 million for public education and development of human potential and EUR 678 million for scientific research.
