A Lithuanian resident currently consumes around 25 kilograms of poultry in a year, while the rate a decade ago stood at 12 kilograms in 2013. Global trends indicate that poultry consumption continues to grow steadily, informs LETA/ELTA.

Data of Lithuania Statistics and the Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics shows that in 2013 Lithuanian residents were supplied with a total of 251,000 tonnes of various kinds of meat, of which poultry accounted for 96,300 tonnes.

During the Lithuanian Aviculture Conference held today in the Kaisiadoriai town, Vytautas Tevelis, president of the Aviculture Association, said the meat and poultry sector currently produces a total of 270 eggs and 30 kilograms of poultry for every resident of the country.

Poultry production worldwide grows by 2-3 percent every year.
