Lietovos bankas: business' attitude towards borrowing is improving

A survey commissioned by the Bank of Lithuania has shown that for the first time in two years more companies are ready to use external financing than their own resources, informs LETA/ELTA.

54.3%, of the polled companies expect to satisfy their business needs employing external financing resources, while 45.7% intend to rely only on their own resources. The survey also revealed that credit institutions agreed to issue loans or change the conditions of the existing agreements to 59.6% of the applying enterprises.

 

Companies intend to use the borrowed funds to purchase or repair equipment, machinery or vehicles (35.2%), purchase raw materials (25.8%) and build, renovate, rent or acquire immovable property (18.8%).

 

According to Gintautas Garbanovas, Economist of Macroprudential Analysis Division of the Financial Stability Department of the Bank of Lithuania, the number of companies that are planning to expand has increased from 5 to 41,2%. Meanwhile, expansion share to be financed using borrowed funds has doubled to 21.8%.
