Turnover of Lithuania's enterprises trading in food decreased by 11.7% in September
Over a month, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products decreased by 11.7%, of those engaged in retail trade in automotive fuels – 2.4%, of those engaged in trading in non-food products –2.6% at constant prices. The largest decrease in turnover was observed in retail sale of clothing (24%) and sporting equipment (22.3%), while an increase – in retail sale of books (47.9%) in specialised stores, Statistics Lithuania said.
In September 2014, against September 2013, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises increased by 5.7% at constant prices (working day adjusted – 4.9%). The turnover of enterprises trading in food products increased by 3.2, of those engaged in retail trade in automotive fuels – 9.1, of those engaged in retail trade in non-food products – 6.5% at constant prices. The largest increase in turnover was observed in retail sale via mail order houses or via the Internet (42%).
In September, the turnover (VAT excluded) of food and beverage service enterprises amounted to LTL 137.8 million (EUR 39.9 million) and, against August, decreased by 10.8% at constant prices. Compared to September 2013, the turnover of enterprises engaged in the said activities grew by 6.8% at constant prices.
