''Dinamo'' began the Kontinental Ice Hockey League (KHL) season in September, but since the club did not have a general sponsor at the start of the season, the club's players did not receive their salaries until yesterday.

''The sponsorship agreement has been signed until the end of the season, and we have received our first payment,'' said Savickis, adding that the club's players have received their salaries in full.

However, Savickis did not reveal the identity of the club's sponsor, only pointing out that it is a European company which operates both in Russia and in the West.

Even though Savickis maintains that the sponsorship agreement has been signed until the end of the season, LETA has obtained information that the club's management is not completely sure whether the financing will be enough to last the whole season.

Savickis previously stated that approximately EUR 12 million is needed for the season.

According to unofficial information, about 10 KHL clubs are going through financial difficulties at the moment.
