In August, purchase price of agricultural products drops by 13.6% in Lithuania y-o-y

Based on the data for August 2014 provided by Statistics Lithuania, purchase price of agricultural products dropped by 13.6% per year. It was affected by decrease of purchase price of animals and animal products (-15.6%) and crop products (-10.5%), reports LETA/ELTA.

Prices of whole milk fell by 20.2%, pigs by 15.1%, cattle by 13.3%, eggs by 5.7%, sheep and goats by 5.4%, poultry by 5%.

 

Prices of buckwheat plummeted by 30.6%, corn by 28.5%, price of barley dropped by 14.5%, triticale by 13.9%, rape seed by 13.7%, vegetables by 13.5%, wheat by 8.5%, rye by 5.4%, potatoes by 3.1%.

 

However, at the same time price of fruit and berries grew.

 

In January-August 2014 year-on-year, purchase of cattle increased by 10.4%, whole milk by 7.9%, poultry by 6.5% and vegetables by 0.3%. Yet purchase of fruit and berries decreased by 37.2%, rape seed by 27.6%, potatoes by 19%, sheep and goats by 15.8%, cereals by 9.3%, pigs by 7.1% and eggs by 1.9%.
