Usakovs: Russia ready to support Latvian export in fields unregulated by sanctions

BC, Riga, 04.09.2014.Print version
Riga Mayor Nils Usakovs (Harmony Center) in Moscow today met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, who promised to support and increase access to Latvian export products in fields unregulated by the sanctions.

The Riga City Council informed LETA that Usakovs rated today's discussion as "constructive and professional".

"While the war of sanctions continues, we cannot sell our dairy products in Russia. However, we can increase our export for products such as canned fish, sweets, or bread, and consolidate our positions in these fields," Usakovs said.

Tomorrow, Usakovs will meet with sales network representatives - both with regular partners from the retail chain Alye Parusa and potential new partners from the store chain Azbuka vkusa.

As reported, from today until September 6, Usakovs will be on a working visit to Moscow to discuss the chances of keeping Latvia's "Rizhskiy Dvorik" stands in Russian supermarkets.
