According to the State Food and Veterinary service, a new, already sixth, case of African swine fever (ASF) has been confirmed in a village in Ignalina District, Naujasis Daugeliskis Parish in Lithuania, reports LETA/ELTA.

A farmer discovered two of the four pigs he was keeping had died, while the remaining two showed signs of ASF. The farm is located approximately 1-1.5 km from the border with Belarus.

After conducting laboratory tests it was determined that all four animals had contracted ASF. Every necessary measure to stop the disease from spreading was taken. 3 km infection zone and 10 km monitoring zone were established around the location. There are 4 farmers who keep 13 pigs within the 3 km zone and 6 farmers who keep 11 pigs within 10 km zone.
