On Wednesday industrialists gathered for a meeting dedicated to discuss measures proposed by the Government in relation to Russian sanctions as well as prospects of economic cooperation with Russia.

President of the LPK said that although Lithuanian businesses feel consequences of the embargo imposed by Russia on agricultural and food products it is difficult to say for sure if the slowdown is caused by sanctions or seasonal fluctuations.

"Businessmen are now formulating the package of the most needed measures. I think the Government should wait for proposals from businesses and include them into the adopted action plan," said Dargis.

According to Dargis, business conditions are not improving in Lithuania, the country is falling in competitiveness rankings. "It could not be said that the situation is worsening but others are progressing faster," he said. The president said that labour relations, taxing and bureaucracy should be addressed.
