Lithuania warned about hazardous sprats made by Latvian enterprise

The proper authorities in Lithuania have received word from RASFF – Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed – via Poland, that excessive amounts of cancer-causing polycyclical aromatic hydrocarbon have been discovered in cans of "Goldfish" sprats produced by Gamma-a Ltd., informs LETA/ELTA.

The amounts detected are at 73.5 micrograms per kilogram, with the maximum legal level at 30 micrograms.

 

1,200 cans of this product were brought into Lithuania by the Rivona company. They have already been yanked from store shelves.
