Polish Ambassador to Latvia Jerzy Marek Nowakovski appeared on the LNT show "900 sekundes" this morning, expressing his viewpoint that Latvia's market is not large enough for it to receive significant amounts of Polish agricultural products, informs LETA.

Commenting on Russia's embargo on food products, Nowakovski indicated that the embargo has not left a huge impact on the Polish economy. Furthermore, Poland is taking various measures to help its producers re-orientate themselves to other export markets, like India, Azerbaijan, the Balkan Peninsula countries and other huge developing markets.

The ambassador assumed that Russia's embargo will probably influence the production supply and commerce with those countries that did not enjoy active trade with Poland.

He stressed that Latvia should not worry about being overwhelmed with cheaper products from Poland. Latvia's market is not huge enough for Poland to import significant amounts of production. Currently, Russia's embargo has not left a huge impact on prices in Poland for it to consider dumping.

Nowakovski believes that there is no reason to interfere with the European Union market, as it is self-regulating. He also assumed that Latvian producers have an opportunity to send their products to Poland, where it could compete with high quality.
