Estonia sends requests for import of dairy products to 4 states

Print versionThe Estonian Veterinary and Food Board director general Ago Pärtel on Thursday sent letters to Indonesia, Taiwan, Kenya and Tanzania asking for import requirements for Estonian dairy products, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Requirements of the target country have to be fulfilled to export animal products that are only issued to states suitable for them.
Getting an answer from third countries is usually a long wait, so that no a quick reaction should be expected, said Pärtel.
In another move aimed to help Estonian agricultural producers who suffer because of the Russian import ban, Pärtel said that food products packaged and labelled in Estonia for the Russian market can be sold in Estonia if the producer applies for an emergency permit and the sales venue is supplied with Estonian language information.
