Among possible new export markets for Lithuanian production are Asia, Arab countries, says Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius, cites LETA/ELTA.

In an interview to radio Ziniu Radijas on Thursday, the head of the Lithuanian diplomacy said that new markets were emerging for business; however, he declined to name them.

"A week ago some possibilities where to export turned out already. It is not at a close distance, maybe a larger distance, less traditional, less common. The search for markets is peculiar in this that it is necessary to look for both traditional and untraditional directions. () A week ago additional directions for exporting meat and fish emerged. I speak about Arab, Asian countries," said Linkevicius.

According to the minister, Lithuanian diplomatic representations are actively involved in searching new markets. Next week the Government will analyse proposals submitted by ministries regarding the mitigation of the effects of the Russian sanctions, legalisation of ritual slaughter to facilitate meat exports to Muslim countries, Israel. It is also expected to learn about the decision of the European Commission regarding intervention buying.

As the entire European Union experiences the Russian blockade, Linkevicius suggested looking for a common solution, including sanctions via the World Trade Organization, which is planned by the European Commission.
