Estonian Health Insurance Fund deficit 21 mln euros in H1

The Estonian Health Insurance Fund (EHIF) ended the first half of the year with a higher than planned deficit because the income from the social tax's health insurance part has been lower than forecast, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

The Estonian Health Insurance Fund announced that its deficit was 20.7 mln euros n the first half of the year, by 6.8 mln more than planned.

 

In the first six months of the year, the fund financed healthcare services for 338 mln euros, by 35 mln euros more than at the same time last year.

 

It paid 54 million euros worth of compensations for medicines and nearly 57 mln euros of temporary sick leave compensations. Family doctors' service was financed for 40.09 mln euros. Specialised medical aid was financed for 270.4 million euros.
