Most popular movie in cinemas in Estonia clocks 96,719 viewers in 2013

The most popular movie in Estonian cinemas in 2013 was U.S. movie "Despicable Me 2", which 96,719 people went to see, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

The top ten included also: "Croods, The" (61,902 viewers), "Fast & Furious 6" (58,389), "Monsters University" (58,132), "Turbo" (55,852), "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (52,082), "Now You See Me" (47,473), "Planes" (47,301), "Smurfs 2" (45,683) and "Kertu" (42,543). "Kertu" was the only Estonian film to make it to top ten and the only non-U.S. film to do so.

 

According to the Estonian Film Foundation data, altogether 235 films premiered at Estonian cinemas last year. 2,409,974 people went to see the films and 11,133,398.24 euros of box office revenues were gained.

 

In addition to new films, 141 older films were shown, bringing 148,579 people to the cinemas and paying 676,930.9 euros for it.

 

The average cinema ticket price was 4.62 euros and movie visit rate per capita was 1.99.
