Latvian Police chief predicts lull in "spice" boom

BC, Riga, 10.04.2014.Print version
State Police Chief Ints Kuzis foresees a lull up ahead in the "legal narcotics" trade, as, thanks to recent changes in the Criminal Law, dealers are in a "state of confusion", reports LETA.

In raids carried out overnight, one Riga kiosk's proprietor was arrested, but all other kiosks were closed.

Kuzis does not foresee, however, such popular substances as "spice" disappearing, because there will be demand. Right now, the police force has been instructed to combat "open and public" retail of "spice", he explained.

Kuzis stressed that at the disposal of the police are the new amendments to the law, allowing for use of all law enforcement methods against "spice" dealers - just as with "classic" drug pushers.
