Estonia’s agriculture minister Ivari Padar gives oath of office

Estonian Social Democratic Party member Ivari Padar gave his oath of office at the parliament on Monday as the new government's agriculture minister, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

The other ministers of Estonia's new Reform Party and Social Democratic Party government, headed by Reform Party's prime minister Taavi Rõivas, gave their oath of office on March 26. Ivari Padar gave his oath of office as Estonian government member on Monday since he had to wrap up things in his previous job, which was being a European Parliament member.

 

Justice minister Andres Anvelt fulfilled the tasks of agriculture minister in the meanwhile.

 

Ivari Padar worked as European Parliament member since 2009. He was agriculture minister in 1999-2002, MP in 2003-2007, finance minister in 2007-2009. His previous employment record also includes work as AS HT Hulgi director general, finance ministry chancellor's aide, Võrumaa Farmers Union executive chairman and deputy mayor of the town of Võru.
