Former Skype's Estonian office head Tiit Paananen started working this week as a "residing businessman" in the state-owned Development Fund, LETA/Postimees Online reports.
Paananen headed Skype's Estonian office till last autumn. As the residing entrepreneur, he will help understand better the needs of start-up companies, launch the Startup Estonia programme and evaluate the possible investments of the fund's subsidiary SmartCap.
The role of a residing entrepreneur is widespread in U.S. risk capital companies but in Estonia, such a position was created for the first time.
