The corruption confessed by Lithuania's health system

Lithuania's Minister of Health Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis would like to charge the doctors working in the state's health institutions with the duty to declare the private interest; however, the minister faces the great resistance, informs LETA/ELTA, referring to Lietuvos rytas.

Andriukaitis who confessed that the corruption and the shadow economy were the features of the Lithuania's health system explained that it was the way to reduce the corruption and the shadow economy in the health care sector. Such a law draw is under the consideration in the Government at the moment.

 

"The declaration will help to create more transparent system. We will be able to see the relations between the doctors and the private businessmen and the relatives who could influence their decisions. There are cases when the doctors send the patients to their established companies," said Andriukaitis to newspaper Lietuvos Rytas.
