The government office government communications director Inga Bowden said that using a common visual identity helps to make the government communications more harmonised and support the principle that government institutions work as a common team in the service of citizens.

Creative head of the design team that developed the visual identity, Kristian Kirsfeldt from design agency Velvet, said that this is the biggest ever identity change project in Estonia. "It concerns ministries, boards and other government institutions that will start using a common identity instead of the symbols they used so far," said Kirsfeldt.

The deadline for transition to the common visual identity is January 1, 2015. The transition is gradual as all existing materials will be used up before new ones are created.
