Lithuania pays special attention to children health issues

A working group on Mother and Child Health Issues established by the order of Lithuania's Minister of Health Povilas Vytenis Andriukaitis held a meeting on Monday to discuss health services, issues of the provision of early rehabilitation for children, information on children's vegetarianism presented by specialists, chronic disease management in children and other topical issues, reports LETA/ELTA.

Specialists of the Ministry, representatives of academic community, public organizations, chief experts discussed concrete actions to maintain the health of Lithuanian children.

 

Chair of the working group, Deputy Minister of Health Jadvyga Zinkeviciute said that this year was announced the year of children health, as a result, it increased the responsibility of specialists from various areas and prompted governmental and municipal bodies, institutions, organizations to consolidate their actions.

 

"Children constitute slightly more than 18 percent, almost a fifth, of total Lithuania's population. This year is special; it is dedicated to one of the most vulnerable groups. How can we prevent diseases, promote attitude of healthy lifestyle? Children deserve to have healthy, safe and happy future. Therefore, we are ready not to make declarations of work, but to work shoulder to shoulder with professors, specialists and experts," assured the deputy minister.
