In regard to potential pay rises in the public sector, medical workers are the first in line, explained Berzins.
It is necessary to work on pay increases in the public sector, said Dombrovskis. Salary increases for medical workers are a priority, since this year's budget already envisages salary increases in the education system and the system of internal affairs, the prime minister agreed with the president.
However, it is also necessary to assess actual budget possibilities, since various demands for budget increases exceed several hundred million lats, despite only tens of millions of lats available for redistribution. "We will not be able to fulfill all requests," admitted Dombrovskis.
