Estonian interior minister Ken-Marti Vaher said in the Riigikogu on Monday that work is being done in the name of having just one emergency calls centre and one emergency phone number in Estonia, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Vaher said that he intends to raise the issue at the state budget talks and hopes to launch the one emergency phone number pilot project in 2012.

“The current plan is to start the pilot project in 2012 and in a few years time, launch it across Estonia,” he said.

Currently there are two emergency phone numbers in Estonia: 110 (the police), 112 (emergency situations).
