Number of Elisa’s customer grew by nearly 10%

In the second quarter of the year 2008 the number of Elisa’s customer grew by 334,700 in comparison to the same period of time last year, writes EPL Online.

The growth of the number of customers by nearly 10% was due to improvement of the quality of network coverage.

The turnover generated by Elisa in the second quarter amounted to 440 million kroons and EBITDA amounted to 171 million kroons – 14% more than during the same period of time last year.

“Growing profitability in Elisa is caused by better quality of network coverage as well as by improved efficiency in the organisation,” stated the CEO of the enterprise Sami Seppänen. He noted that times of boom in the mobile communications sector are over in Estonia, but good service and a fair price will help gain market share.

Seppänen stated that in the past two years Elisa has invested half a billion kroons in improving its network coverage and this has made it possible for the company to grow actively despite high penetration of mobile communications in Estonia.
