The number of Tele2’s customers grew by 7,800 during the same period of time, reaching 502,600.

The enterprise stated that in the second quarter solid growth was achieved in the number of call minutes initiated by customers as well as the consumption of mobile data communications. The latter grew by nearly 50% in comparison to the same period of time in 2007.

At the same time lowering of fees for interconnection of networks in November last year continued having a significant negative effect on the turnover and profitability of the enterprise.

CEO of Tele2 Eesti Toomas Tiivel said, when commenting the results that the changed economic environment requires more efficient operations and closer monitoring of spending. “I am glad that we managed to lure away both individual customers and corporate customers from our competitors. Mobile users pay increasingly closer attention to the price component,” said Tiivel, predicting that the positive trend in the number of customers will continue.
