The Estonian State Forest Management Centre (SFMC), which manages the Estonian state-owned forests, had sales revenue of 1.3 bln kroons in the first nine months of 2010, which is a 46% growth as compared to last year, LETA/Eesti Päevaleht Online reports.

SFMC earned a net profit of 296 mln kroons in the first nine months of this year, by six times more than at the same time last year when the profit was 47 mln kroons.

The company earned the majority of revenues from selling forest material and hacked timber, 2 million cubic metres for 1.26 bln kroons. The average sales price grew by 24% to 607 kroons a cubic metre.

SFMC’s financial and administration manager Anneli Viik said that the third quarter work was affected by the major storms that ravaged forests at the end of the summer.

SFMC protects and guards state forests, plants and grows new forests, organises forestry work and sells growing forests and timber. It manages 38% of all Estonian forests.
