Polish companies encouraged to cooperate with Latvia

Semani was accompanied on the visit by his deputy Vita Dobele and by Rolands Lielbriedis, director of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency's representation in Poland.
Today, the Ambassador will meet the leaders of the Silesian provincial and Katowice city governments: Governor Zigmunt Lukaszcik, Marshal Boguslaw Smigielski, and Deputy Mayor of Katowice Jozef Kocurek.
Semanis will speak about the successful operations in Silesia of the Latvian company Severstallat, who created the daughter company Severstallat Silesia Sp. z.o.o. in 2008. The Ambassador will call on the governors and city government to develop economic cooperation with Latvia, taking advantage of Latvian companies' increased interest in export to Poland.
The Latvian delegation will visit the Silesian Library and meet with the Library's director, Professor Jan Malicki.
The local Silesian Chamber of Commerce is currently holding a business seminar for Silesian businesses on opportunities for cooperation with Latvia. Lielbriedis will speak at the seminar on the main Latvian business projects in Poland. Severstallat Chairman Andrejs Aleksejevs and Severstallat Silesia Sp. z.o.o. Marketing Director Justine Robaka will also attend the seminar.
A reception will be held for the Ambassador in Katowice, where the governors of Silesia have been invited, as well as the governments of the cities of Katowice and Sosnowiec and management from Severstallat and Severstallat Silesia Sp. z.o.o..
Tomorrow, February 24, the Ambassador will visit the city of Sosnowiec, where he will meet with management and workers of Severstallat Silesia Sp. z.o.o..
The province of Silesia is one of the 16 provinces of Poland and is located in the south of Poland, with its center in Katowice. Silesia is Poland's most industrialized province, and several strategically important companies operate there: coal mining operations, metallurgical factories, and power stations. The region is also home to the automobile producers Adam Opel AG and Auto Fiat Poland.
