Strauss told about how in January this year, a second small retail location had opened in the center of Tallinn. "In the future we are planning 2-3 more locations in Estonia, as well as shops in Prague, Brussels and New York," he said, indicating that these were already being worked on.
As reported earlier, the Latvian food and design shop "Parem kui saldejums", which is a mix of the Estonian and Latvian for "Better than ice-cream", opened its doors last November in Tallinn's largest shopping center "Rocca al Mare", writes LETA.
Around EUR 150,000 (LVL 105,000) has been initially invested in the establishment of Ogu maize, according to Strauss.
In the shop, Estonian customers can find the products of well-known Latvian companies such as Maiznica Flora, Polu nams, Liepkalni, Antaris, Laci, VK serviss, Dona, Saldus partikas kombinats, Valmiera piens, Iecavnieks, Pure food, Evalds, Brivais vilnis, Rezekne and Jelgava meat product factories, Lido, Cido, Gutta, Rigas piensaimnieks, Latvijas Balzams and others. The works of 20 Latvian artists can also be purchased.
According to Strauss, customer interest is high, and there have been several orders. According to the company director, the most popular product was "Adziku", made by Pure Food.
At the moment the company is taking part in an international exhibition in Cologne, where Latvia is being represented by a total of eight companies, with two from Lithuania, while Estonian food producers are not taking part in the exhibition at all, underlining the advantages of the Ogu maize concept, said Strauss.
The company's turnover indicators are in keeping with its plans – turnover could reach EUR 400,000 (LVL 280,000) for one shop by the end of the year, indicated Strauss, expressing his confidence that the company would also produce a profit.
