Thus far, twelve Belarusian companies have decided to move to Latvia, the Economics Ministry informed LETA.

According to the ministry, the Belarusian companies are from the information and communication technology industry and several related industries.

Some of these companies meet the criteria for startups. They are planning to relocate about 470 employees to Latvia, mostly management members and senior experts.

Economics Minister Janis Vitenbergs (KPV LV) said that work was under way to find solutions so the Belarusian companies that have decided to move to Latvia could relocate as quickly as possible. A special team has been set up, made up of representatives of the Economics Ministry, Investment and Development Agency and other institutions, to promptly review Belarusian companies' applications and offer them relevant solutions. In most cases, Belarusian companies inquire about such matters as residence permits for specialists and their families, visas, opening of bank accounts, and others.

"We understand that it may be problematic for these companies to receive the necessary references from the Belarusian authorities at the moment, which is why we work with each company individually," said Vitenbergs.
