Latvijas Pasts: Demand for services of parcel machines will remain strong also after Covid-19 pandemic

Demand for services of parcel machines will remain strong also after the Covid-19 pandemic, said Latvijas Pasts postal company's board chairman Marcis Vilcans in an interview with LETA.

He said that many people during the pandemic used such services as home deliveries or deliveries to parcel machines for the first time.

"Covid-19 has given an impulse for such services," said Vilcans, predicting that demand for these services will remain strong also after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Vilcans voiced hopes that by the end of 2020 Latvijas Pasts will have at least 80 parcel machines.

"It largely depends on how we will succeed with delivery processes as there is an impact of the pandemic visible. Placement of our outdoor parcel machines took longer than we planned because the manufacturer did not receive all necessary parts in time," said Vilcans, reminding that Latvijas Pasts currently has 62 parcel machines across Latvia.

He said that compared to other countries, Latvia has a large number of parcel machines per resident.

"It is good from the point of view of customers, but challenging from the point of view of business representatives," he said.

Vilcans said that the financial situation of Latvijas Pasts is good. Of course, the pandemic has affected the turnover, but the profit figure in the first half of this year is better than we planned," said Vilcans.
